Tory Lanez – LUV

“Luv” is a song by Canadian rapper Tory Lanez. It was released on July 29, 2016, as the second single from his debut studio album, I Told You (2016).

The song was produced by Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco. It has interpolations from “Everyone Falls in Love” by Tanto Metro and Devonte. It received a nomination for Best R&B Song at the 59th Grammy Awards that was held in February 2017.

“Luv” is about not being afraid to fall deeply in love. Produced by Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco, the track samples the dancehall track “Everyone Falls In Love” by Tanto Metro and Devonte.

“Luv” peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and received a nomination for Best R&B Song at the 59th Grammy Awards. Tory announced the single the night before its release, and then premiered it on HotNewHipHop.

It was actually sparked off of another record that I did called “Come Back To Me.” On that we sampled Wayne Wonder’s “No Letting Go” record. And basically the record was so dope.

We had a little clearance issue in the beginning. The record’s on the album, it was a bonus exclusively through Target. That record was actually the record that inspired Benny and Cashmere make “Luv.”

I was bummed out that we couldn’t use the other one and Benny was just like, “No worries. I’ll make you something else.” And when he sent it, I knew for a fact what this could be if I just hit this with the sauce I usually hit this with.

I just remember hearing it very young and hearing it throughout my life, growing up.

In Canada, we had basement jams and stuff like that and parties, we would always hear it in those circumstances.

The music video for “Luv”, directed by Lanez and Zac Facts, premiered via Lanez’s Vevo channel on June 24, 2016.
